Daily Thought

The present state of the world is called "gola". The state of the world as it will soon be is called "geula". The two words are exactly the same, except that “geula” has the letter "alef" inserted in the middle. “Alef” means “master”. It also means “one”.

To make gola into geula, we only need reveal the alef— the One Master of the Universe who is hidden within the artifacts of our present world.

If G-d would want to bring Moshiach now, who would it be? Was he born yet?

Yes. In every generation there is a person who potentially could be the Moshiach. When G–d decides the time has arrived, He will bestow upon that individual the necessary powers for him to precipitate that redemption.

Any potential Moshiach must be a direct descendant of King David as well as erudite in Torah learning. It should be noted that many people living today can trace their lineage back to King David. The Chief Rabbi of Prague in the 16th Century, Rabbi Yehuda Loew (the Maharal), had a family tree that traced him back to the Davidic dynasty. Consequently, any direct descendant of the Maharal is of Davidic descent.

Maimonides, a great Jewish philosopher and codifier of the 12th Century, rules that if we recognise a human being who possesses the superlative qualities ascribed to Moshiach we may presume that he is the potential Moshiach. If this individual actually succeeds in rebuilding the Temple and gathering in the exiles then he is the Moshiach.

Doesn't a Cyrus type come first?

I believe it is in Isaiah chapter 45 that it mentions two times that the King Cyrus type of person, does not even know the G-d of Abraham.

Yet, this person will play a prominent role in setting the stage for the rebuilding of the Jerusalem Third or Fourth Temple Mount Complex.

From what I read in Isaiah chapters 42 to 46 there is even an encouraging possibility that the Cyrus type could even be a Gentile?

Will the King Cyrus type come along previous to Moshiach ben Yossef, or simultaneously?
