Dear James,
According to Jewish thought, G-d judges the world according to majority. To quote Maimonides (based on Talmud Kiddushin 40), "One must always perceive the good and evil in oneself and in the world as if in perfect balance. Through doing one good deed, one can tip the scales in favor of the good and bring salvation to oneself and to the entire world.” One good deed we can tilt the balance of the entire world and bring Moshiach!
It is Moshiach’s job to actually make this world perfect, our job is only to make the world 51% good.
