First of all there is no doubt that having a king is legitimate in Judaism, and is even considered a mitzvah (Duet. 17). In the prayer you mentioned the sole intention is that we have no ultimate authority (-the true definition of "King"-) other than G-d, because our kings themselves are servants of G-d and subordinate to him. - Mendy

Is G-D king or is Moshiach our King - Avinu Malchianu or Moshiach Malchainu?

How can I understand what we say in prayer every weekday -"Avinu Malchainu ain lanu meleck elle atow." - "Our father our King we have no king but You" and the fact that we crown Hashem King every year on Rosh Hashannah with the seemingly contradictory notion Moshiach will be our king? - Jonathan

Humankind is perfectible. Planet Earth can be a literal Ganeden. Violence is not innate withing human beings from birth. The universe is stable, ordered, benevolent and expansive. Prophecy is immutable. - Adam Neira

What...?

Few questions, Firstly why are there noisy Jew's yelling "WE WANT MOSCHIAC NOW!!" in public places, and uh, if God intended for us to live in a perfect utopia (which is inherently impossible), why didn't he send Moshiach from the beginning, why allow "evil" to run rampant when it can be avoided? Oh and, how does mr. Permanent Dictator of the world split up resources to provide for all people, if you use America as the role model for this utopia, you must then realize that America uses up 90% of this world's resources despite containing only a minuscule fraction of the world's population. In a perfect utopia, a lack of resources will inevitably always lead to war. - James
