<description>Thaks for an interesting topic. I agree
with Your conclusions about the shortcomings of democracy and need for a
better system of goverment. In the country I live in, Sweden, the rule of law is hardly ever talked about, but frequantly equality is heard of and that empty shell: democracy. In the early 1970's the judical representatives and officials started to behave differently. The goal was not to defend right from wrong, but the arms of goverment promoted the the ruling socialist partys interest over the individuals rights. The opposition was grumbling but agreed not to make an conflict over issues.
Back in the mid 1950's the Soviet Union had threatend to ockupay our neighbour country Finland, if not the swedish goverment and the oposition did not agree to forbid anticommunist campains in media. Since the press was a press controlled by different polical parties the partys of sweden manages to fullfil the request of the soviet goverment. The effect was devastating to our political freedom, and resently some librarians even censured a book about Stalin killings! That is what hapens if the wrong values are introduced in a society. How did we, the swedes, get it all so wrong? In my early 20s I became aware of the the causes to disaster even more, since I was involved in intelligence work. The late prime minister Olof Palme, who was killed in 1986, was a soviet agent.
He had commited his life to to transform Sweden. His mothers family was originated from Balticum and her brothers used to cooperate with the nazi regim. One worked for IG-Farben another onkel had meetings with the most prominent nazi-agent in Sweden herbert Lickfett. Due to that and more I belive to the sexual prefferences of our primeminister, the man became a soviet asset in the 1950's. The 1970's then he was PM the constitution was reewritten. Some power of goverment could be transferred to the enemy, acording to the motivation attached to the paragraf in question, under the &quot;peacefull cooperation&quot;.
A defencedepartment instruction later on suggested that men over 18 ears of age could be put into consentrasion camps without violating the rule of law of Sweden.
I could give You more examples but this will be enought to make the picture clear.
On the foreign policy field the goverment supported the PLO. The&quot;peace&quot;process, begining in 1988 was the initiative by the Foreign Minister Sten Andersson. The US was to regognice the PLO in return for PLO's recognition of Israel, wich they never did, that is changing the PLO-charter. Sten Andersson met with a KGB-general during the peace process and the whole prosess was belived by the CIA to be a KGB-operation.
To sum up, all this enemy activities was due to the democratic system of Sweden, wich was impotent to give what it was in theory supposed to give.
